Depends... Is it a 36-volt V-Glide, 48-Volt Power Drive with a big lever for F & R or 48-Volt IQ system with a small rocker switch for F & R as well as a tow switch under the seat?

If the serial number starts with "AQ" the answer is yes. A 2002 DS IQ should have the GE motor. There are two high speed magnets available for the IQ system. Make sure you order the correct one for your motor. The GE motor has a snap-in style speed sensor on the end of the motor where the ADC has a top-hat shaped sensor with two screws holding it in place.

I'm getting 18mph out of my cart, verified by radar.

How much speed could I actually expect with a magnet?

What got you to 18 I would ask first? If your running speed code 4 and your doing 18 then the magnet may not net you anything.

Not sure. It was completely stock when I bought it, and I put 22" tires on it. Thats all I did.

I know I'm getting 18mph because the local police dept has one of those speed signs out on the street.... so I employed it for a speed test. LOL

I say this because SC3 is good for 14.8 MPH and SC4 is good for 19.6 MPH if nothing else is holding the cart back such as brakes, bearings, under inflated tires, batteries etc... Big tires will cost you torque but you might still see another 2 mph given enough time to build a head of steam. So your cart is too fast for SC3 and kinda slow for SC4....

I think I'm probably at SC3 then because before I put the tires on we were only around 15mpg, according to the gps app on my phone.

Well then an inexpensive speed magnet may very well show you some low 20's then... Talk to David Hicks here on the site....

If You use the speed calculator in the quick links, 22" tires will get you 18mph with Speed Code 3.

The magnet will remove most of the Regen brake which will make it harder to stop but go much faster downhill.

You should be able to pick up speed on level roads as well.
