Default Limp Mode has me Walking Home

Hello forum,

Was wondering if I could get some help on a perpetual problem I have been having for a year now. I work on Volvo's so I know my way around a wrench and electrical things.

IIRC the cart is a 2006 model; 48V. I believe the car came with a speed code so it can go faster, still has stock motor I think (olive colored motor). When I press the gas too hard the cart goes into limp mode. It still has heavy torque but maintains only a certain speed. I throw it out of limp mode by putting it in TOW mode for a few mins and I can go until it falls into limp mode again.

I did the speed sensor test and it failed it, so I opted for a new oem speed sensor, still fails. Actually when I unplug the speed sensor from the connector, it acts the same as if it were all plugged in.

I checked the speed sensor wiring and couldn't see any fraying or something, it went into that black boxed unit which I unbolted and saw no corrosion in there or anywhere (motor, pedals). The cart was rebuilt before I took delivery so mostly everything including batteries are new.

So my question is what do I do now? Is there an underlying issue? I really need this thing to get up to top speed quick to get out of an area for my application.

I can supply loads of photos as needed.

-M

If it resets when you go to tow then back to run. That makes me think you have a loose connection in your wring or a cold solder joint maybe in the controller.

You can either troubleshoot the wiring harness from the speed sensor back to the controller, or purchase a new wiring harness. Sounds like you have an issue in the harness.
