36v to 48v 1983 fairway villager

My friend that lives just down the road has a 36v 1983 club car ds\fairway villager. I recently added two 6v batteries to my 36v buggie and now he wants to do the same to keep up LOL. What all would be required for this upgrade in this resistor cart?

I just completed an upgrade from 36 volt resistor to solid state 48volt using a Scotty B kit. My cart is a 2003 DS. He can provide info as to the needed hardware. His kit was complete except for low volt wires and connectors. His diagrams and instructions were all that I needed to be succesful.

I would not run a resistor cart on 48V without upgrading the controls to solid state. The resistors will get too hot.

I upgraded my 1988 ds from resistor to solid state and its not reliable now. it will go about a mile and a half then when you stop the solenoid won,t reactivate has voltage going to it when you press the pedal, replaced the solenoid a and it ran fine for a couple days then next time out it went about a mile and a half and the same thing, any idea's

Like you I upgraded my first cart (an old Melex resistor coil cart) To 48v and it proceeded to burn everything up one part at a time. That cart was followed by a resistor Club Car that gave me similar results... I had to admit these carts could not stand 48v. This lead to my first solid state conversion.... eventually the kits evolved to what you see today. Easy and reliable 48v operation.
