In another post you made yesterday afternoon you said you couldn't tell the state of the batteries and were waiting on your 48 volt charger to arrive? Your right about one thing....your defineately headed for trouble.

Your not going to get on here and post that you can do it. Guest's read all of this and someone else will try it and fry their controller....and when they do, YOU will be the one that told them it was OK. Don't bother trying to prove it.

DO NOT TRY TO RUN 48 VOLTS THROUGH A CONTROLLER THAT IS NOT RATED FOR 48 VOLTS.
I second that -

roady89,

This might be a very timely conversation. I did get a charger and I am charging my batteries as I type. I'm sure the batteries are wired properly, but I will give you that possibly my batteries were weak and that is why I was able to run it through the controller.

OK, I'm not stupid. I'm listening to your advice and others on this forum. I need another controller.

So, can you help me out by recommending a controller? And a place to buy one? Something inexpensive would be nice. At some point, I want my cart to go 20+

I browsed eBay and found one from LogiSystems but it seems too cheap. Would you suggest this controller for my buggy?

Unless you plan on upgrading the motor you don't need that controller. At this point you can go either way with your money. If you plan on keeping the stock motor a 400 Amp AXE will be fine, or even a cheaper Kelly controller. The kelly's don't have the duty cycle an Alltrax does....but I have never know anyone with a golf cart that needed 400 amps for a full 5 minutes. (EV's yes.) The logisytem are nice but the company is defuct IMO. Their website has been down for years.

The EMP 2 speeds are nice to have. The best of both worlds. I don't know whats going on with EMP. I have read of several people saying they couldn't get a motor built.

I have a logisystem controller like that but 480 amp. It was the cheapest thing I found..... It is on a cart in the build stage so I have never seen it run on the ground, only on jacks. The company is not very high tech. No money spent on a website...but when you call, you talk with real people and they call you back when needed. I got good customer service from them, I gotta give em that
They exchanged my unused 5K-0 for a 0-5K months after the purchase for no cost....not everybody does that

When I spoke with EMP on the phone, they said they had at least a 2-week turnaround if you sent them your motor. This seems normal to me but it might be why some people are complaining.

Can you guys tell me where you go to buy your controllers? Kelly? Logisystems? AXE?

scottyb - where did you buy your 480 amp logisystems controller?

Plus, my current controller has 4 connection points on it. Looking around online I see some have 3 or 4. Do I need a 0-5K or a 5K-0? Does that determine the number of connection points?

If you have not already upgraded all of your cables to at least #4 welding grade
Do So , when U get the full 48Volts and the added amps from the larger Controller
you will need them and make sure they have Copper ends.

I have already upgraded ALL my cables to 4-gauge. Nice red ones with copper ends.

So - you have 48 volts of batteries and until today, only 36 volts of charger?

No, I have 2 carts. One cart is a '04 48V CC. When I want to charge them I put the batteries in the '04 and charged them fully on the 48V system. Then I moved them to my '93.

I think the batteries were fully charged, but I can't rule out that they had drained a bit.

So fedude go buy a multimeter so you can test pack/battery Voltage.
Only a few bucks $
