Default Club car cuts out in foward. and fast reverse

I have a 94 club car 36V that I am having troubles with. Battieres are about a year old. all test good. Its a controller cart with v-glide. Its lifted with bigger tires and a back seat kit. My problem is that the cart in forward sometimes goes and sometimes does nothing. I can press the pedal to the floor and the solenoid clicks but does not move till you let off the pedal a little. when you do it moves a little then cuts out. solenoid is brand new. (put on last week thinking that was my problem). the v glide looks like it is making contact when I take the cover plate off. then when you put it in reverse it goes full speed when you press the pedal so It jerks you real bad cause it takes off so quick. could this be a forward reverse switch problem? not sure where to start. Thank you for the help. also all the micro switches on the forward reverse switch and v glide are all brand new.

One of the resistors in the MultiStep Potentiometer is bad so You have an open circuit.

When You put the cart on reverse, a micro switch in the FNR adds a 5.1kΩ resistor in parallel with the Throttle circuit, that would normally lower the maximum resistance, but since the throttle connection is open, it actually sends a 5.1kΩ signal to the controller which means full speed (bad design).

Put the FNR in forward, disconnect the Black and the White wires at the MultiStep Potentiometer and make sure all of the resistors are in place.

Set your MultiMeter to 20kΩ and remember that 0L means Open Circuit and is a short as indicated by your Multimeter.

Slowly press the pedal and look for the resistance increase in the Black and White wires as each resistor is added in series:

so this could also cause it not to go forward sometimes also? or cut in and out like it does? I will check this tonight. if this is the case would it be a bad V glide that needs replaced?

Yes it will cause all of the problems described.

You don't need to replace the whole Vglide, just the bad resistor(s) on the back side.

If it is easier, You can disconnect the Black and the White wires from terminals #2 and #3 at the controller and measure the resistance on the wires as You press the pedal down slowly.

Resistors - Radio Shack is a retail store that has some. Otherwise mail order but you will pay 100X in shipping what the resistor is worth. (Digikey, Newark, etc)

Sergio is spot on target (as usual). Do the test to verify a bad multi-step, then you'll need to test components. The usual suspects are resistors or connecters and can be gotten at any electronic supply shop.
