Should I go with 36 volt DS?
Ever since I sold my 48 volt DS last year I've been itching to get a new cart. My previous cart had all the bells and whistles but this time wife won't let me spend the money for one already set up. I've been searching craigslist high and low but a good cart at a good price is hard to come by around here. Yesterday I found and looked at a 1995 36 volt DS. The cart has 4 month old Trojan batteries and seems to be in good shape. I can defiantly tell a difference between it and 48 I had. They have it priced at $1350 but got him to $1200. Question is, am I going to be happy with this thing? Am I going to be constantly putting upgrades on it to feel like my 48? We use it for a neighborhood cruiser and 1-2 tournaments a year. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Should I go with 36 volt DS?
I was just looking at some pictures I took of it. On the side it has "system 48, Powerdrive Plus". I did look at the batteries, there were 6 6 volt Trojans.

The 36v 1995 DS is a resistor coil cart. How do you want to use it and how do you want to modify it?

Re: Should I go with 36 volt DS?
We use it mostly for a neighborhood cruiser and at the lake, we'll take it to a couple of tournaments a year. I would like to put the normal things on it, wheels, stereo and that's probably about it. Biggest question I have is, am I going to be wishing I got a 48 volt because I'll be unhappy with the 36v? I've had the 48 and you can defiantly tell the difference.

In 1995.... 36v was called V-Glide System 48 was 48v Series Powerdrive Plus was 48v Regen-1 Just check the charger port - if its the old crowfoot design (not big/round), its 36v and not a 48v cart that somebody put the wrong batteries in (that's been done before). |

I'd stay away from the resistor coil cart. Mine drained my new batteries like crazy. I gutted it and upgrad to Scotty B's modern system and went 48vlt. Just my 2 pennies

Re: Should I go with 36 volt DS?
my 96 has the same decal on it. it is a 48 volt series cart with no regen on it.
even as a 48 volt it was slow and uphill i could walk faster. i upgraded everything and love it now. still looks stock but faster. i'm just saying that i dont know how much of a difference 48 over 36 is going to make. |

What is the serial number of the cart? Either someone put the wrong batteries in it, or someone has swapped bodies.
