2006 Precedent 6"lift 22" Tires on 12" rims. We did order and replacement passenger side brake cable to resolve any issue of the drive side cable being to short. We installed with brake assembly under the axel. Lift is also installed with four hole plates over and under the axle and use four grade 8 bolts per side. Biggest challenge is dealing with the removal and re installation of the snap rings that hold the axles in position. Very do able but they are a pain. Result we are very happy with the lift and the disc brake and have experienced no axle wrap. Much improved stoping time and distance and setting the brake on a hill is much more secure. Read the information on this site, think through your install and applications and we believe your going to be very satisfied with the results. |

Re: Ausco disk brake kit feedback thread
Just put the brakes on a 91 lifted Club Car DS. I had to do some rigging to get the cables to fit. There is still some rattle from the capilers when I'm driving. Not sure if that is normal or not. As for stopping power they are great, much tighter on hills and quicker to stop the cart. I believe the install would have been much smother for a non lifted or newer cart.

Re: Ausco disk brake kit feedback thread
I have a set of Ausco on my 2006 CC Prededent. I am running 215-40 x 12 tires with the 1/2" lift bar spacer in front. I have a Nissan Lithium pack, so weight is down by 200#. Needed stopping power. Cart tops out at 31mph. Brakes were a breeze to install once you get past the snap rings mentioned above. I installed new cables at the same time. For some reason they were about 1/2 too long for adjustment. I added a spacer on the t-bar rod from brake pedal. Brakes required minor adjustment after month break in period for parking brake. Probably also due to new cable breakin stretch. Didn't care for the red paint, disassembled and repainted with Rustoleum Hammered Black paint prior to install. Love them.

Re: Ausco disk brake kit feedback thread
Just installed the Ausco Disk Brake Kit on my 2014 Precedent. It has a 3" lift and 22" tires. I have had the kit for nearly a year but had not taken the time to install.
Instructions are very good. However, they call for you to cut the original cable bracket off the spring bracket. I did this. However, after the install, it appears that on my model leaving the original cable bracket on would not inter-fear with anything. YMMV. It took me a couple of hours to do the install. Took my time. As expected, the snap rings are a pain. I had a couple of quality snap ring pliers and if not for them, it would have taken a lot longer. The only other special tool I used was a torque wrench. Besides the snap rings, the only difficulty I had was getting them adjusted. I had to add a spacer to the rod to be able to tighten the cables enough to get the adjustment right. Have not had a chance to use it much since the install, but on the test run I did they worked fine. |

Re: Ausco disk brake kit feedback thread
2013 Precedent 3" lift. Kit does not work with 10" "storm trooper" wheels, I'm glad I only did one side at a time. I'm deciding on wheel spacers or bigger wheels, which I've been wanting anyway. What is it telling you to cut on page 2 of the instructions. I cannot figure out what it is asking for. Right now it's back to how it started so I can use it until I decide what to do

Re: Ausco disk brake kit feedback thread
The one thing I learned about the snap ring is to use the best quality angled tip snap-ring plyers available with the correct size of tips...if you try the cheap ones with interchangeable tips the job gets much more difficult than it needs to be. The brand I used was a Snap-on angle tip with fixed tips.

I did that, but on mine it appears that the bracket does not need to come off. The new brakes have their own brake cable bracket so you do not use the one that is currently used with the drum brakes. |
