Default Club Cart - 2005 Charger

1st Club Car sharing the garage with 3 PDS EZ Go's. New 48 Volt batteries and taking maiden voyage around the block we noticed that there seems to be some, slight, hesitation as if it is trying to maintain speed. Didn't GPS it but compared to the PDS carts we have I would guess we were around 13MPH. What options do I have to make this cart a bit faster?

Also tried charger and nothing, popped the cover and noticed that a small green wire looked melted close to the connection. There is black electrical tape wrapped AROUND the AC power cord so we figured some type of short. New Charger needed?
PQ05 serial number

As always Thanks to all for any help

Well first off the PQ serial number indicates that you on't have an Excel cart... That's good as they are cheaper to make faster... If nothing else is wrong 13 MPH means it likely has Speed Code 2 programmed into the controller. You can fool the controller into letting you go faster by installing a Speed Magnet this will send out 1/2 of the pulses and thus fooling the controller into thinking it is going half as fast; just don't expect it to allow you to go twice as fast as you simply don't have that much power or HP available.

There was a Youtube video showing a guy using a Club Car precedent speed code 5 programmer. Would this be something that I could try or is that for another type of club car. It does have an "IR" on the side of the cart.
Thanks

Your options are open... You can use the SC5 programmer, have the SC4 installed by a dealer, or the cheapest and most bang for the buck the speed magnet. Contact site sponsor David Hicks from www.revolutiongolfcarts.com and he will set you on the path...

I have a speed code 5 programmer on mine. It does work. I do have 2" taller than stock tires and I get 22-23mph very easily and will top out around 24-25 although it has seen 26mph.
