That battery is FUBAR depending on age and condition of the other batteries you may want to consider replacing them all with new. Be sure that you are using and/or purchase 12 volt Golf Cart Deep Cycle batteries and not marine deep cycle...

RATS! I just bought 'em 3 years ago (Trojans) the other 3 hold 12.4V consistent, so I hope I can just change 1 (?) would that alone cause this? Could the solenoid and other stuff be OK?

Your problem is not the solenoid it is your batteries and until you have a good set you are wasting your time & money. Always but always start at the batteries....

12.4 is barely 70 % state of charge; needs to be closer to 12.73 volts... 3 year old batteries would be a waste to replace just the one as it will be dug down and be no better than the rest in short order...

Are Trojans still the best way to go?

As for what kind of solenoid to get. My advise would be to get a genuine Albright solenoid. If you look on line you will see plenty of "Albright Style" solenoids. To me this translates to cheap knockoff junk. As for which model. An Albright SW 180.
