Default Motor brake...... Please help

I have a 2011 presedent with a excel controller. I took it to my club car dealer to have speed code 4 imputed as well as the motor brake removerd. He got the speed code updated however his hand held computer did not give him the option to remove the motor brake. I have owned two other 2011 CC presidents with excel system and never had this issue. Anyone ever had this issue and resolved it. I hate the motor brake. Please help me.

I'm sorry but to the best of my learning there is no option to completely remove the regen braking via the stock OE Curtis controller. While it is not going to get you any more speed but I think that the install of the speed magnet will do what your asking.

Speed magnet will not work with the Excel system.

Correct the speed magnet does not work to increase speed on these carts. And I'm not entirely sure of the outcome but it has been installed on them and I'm wondering if it might knock out the regen braking? Trying to think of how the OP previously had 2 other stock (?) Excel carts that supposedly had no regen braking?

As I understand the Excel system, you can reduce the effect of regen, but you can not eliminate it completely using the hand held OE programmer. That is why I converted to the IQ system on my 2014 Excel cart.

My info may be old and there may be a way to do it now. With more Excel carts coming into the market, there will be advances in modifying them.

It doesn't matter what year or version of software you have. You can not completely "Remove" the electronic motor braking from an Excel cart. All you can do is turn off the Pedal-Up Regen and the Excel Braking (Keeps it from braking as you release the accelerator). The motor braking will always be there to limit your top speed based on the speed setting you're controller is set on.

The only way to do it is to replace the controller with something like an Alltrax XCT or the motor with a Plum Quick Bandit Excel motor

What does PQ do that makes the motor brake go away? I'm fairly sure that there was no motor braking on my Executioner even before I replaced the controller...

Thanks guys. I do have the pq bandit as I did on my previous cart. On my last cart that was identical to this cart which is all factory except for the motor my club car dealer had used there hand held computer to remove he motor brake. It actually gave then the option on their computer to turn it on or off and it did not give them an option on this cart which was weird. I just want it not to brake when I let off the accelerator. Any more Help would be great. Thanks

Seems like this thread has brought up two different types of braking. Max speed braking, and pedal up braking. There is also roll away braking.

It may be your dealer looked at the wrong braking on his programmer.
Sounds like you are wanting the pedal up braking set to the lowest setting, I think it is "0" setting.

Correct.... But only PQ knows exactly what they do to remove the regen completely on an Excel car... The Executioner uses the same method as the Bandit I'm sure.
