Controller Selection Help?
One more question for the group if I could:
I'm looking at new controllers for my cart and they appear to be slightly different looking than the one I currently have. Here is a picture of the back of my controller: Notice it has 4 lugs and 3 smaller connectors. Now here (below) is a picture of a controller from ebay that is to be used with a 0-5K ohm potentiometer: Based upon the connectors, this appears to be exactly what I need. However, I read on another forum that all club cars have 5K-0 pots. But if I look at a controller for a 5K-0 Input potentiometer (pictured below), it only has 3 lugs and probably won't fit my buggy: Can someone help help me sort this out? |

Re: Controller Selection Help?
the a2, terminal is optional.. if you controller has it, and your new one doesn't. You simply run the wire directly to the a2 motor post.. if your controller doesnt have it, and the new one does, you create a break in the line and install it on the post... Don't buy a controller just because it "looks" the same.. You never know what type of throttle it will take, what type of voltage it is etc... etc.... '
side note, not ALL club cars have 5k-0... some have 0-5k... I think that was reserved for the 36v club cars and the first year of 48v cars... |

Re: Controller Selection Help?
Which ever one matches the one you are replacing? What is your throttle output? 0-5K ot 5K-0? That is the real difference between these controllers.
P.S. what happened to your old controller? |

Re: Controller Selection Help?
Yikes! I'm getting more confused.... (nothing unusual, but still frustrating)
How do I tell whether my throttle output is 0-5K or 5K-0? Should I buy the 0-5K controller that exactly matches the lug configuration of the one I have? |

Re: Controller Selection Help?
Most (**** near all) Club cars use 5K-0 ohms, EZGO's use 0-5K. (stock)
Dump the A2, its more trouble than its worth. With or without will work. |

Re: Controller Selection Help?
Test the out put with your voltmeter. I'm pretty sure it has an ohms setting connect it to the small black and white wire that connects to the controller and push the gas peddle......what does it read? And really I would like to know what happened to the old controller? Last we heard you were charging up 48v worth of batteries to run thru a 36v controller. Did you do that?

Re: Controller Selection Help?
Scotty,
After reading your (and roady's) warnings, I charged up the batteries, but did not take it out for a spin. I'm going to replace the controller first. OK, I put my meter on the black and white wires going to the controller. The reading started off at ~500 and went to ~6000 when I pushed the pedal. Which of those two controllers do I want? Roady,
I'm not really sure what you mean by the throttle, but I took these pictures: |
