D&D 502.2 install
06 cc ds, not lifted. Motor came, wont fit. When i am positioning it to slide onto the spline, the end of motor hits the right rear shock tower. Even when it would be fully on and slid into poisition it looks as if it will still interfere. I put a call in to tech, but was late in day, im sure ill hear tomorrow.
Has anyone installed this on a cc, ds series? The motor is physically 2 inches longer than my original which morphed into a bandit B |

Re: D&D 502.2 install
There may be another hole for the top end for the shock a bit further out. Generally remove the shock damper and run without it if necessary. These are not shock absorbers like on a car, they are shock dampers which basically slow the suspension from bouncing back.

Re: D&D 502.2 install
Never have had this issue, but never put on a D&D either. Maybe you could drop the shock and leaf spring bolts on the side you need to slide it on, put it on the differential, then raise it back up? Just guessing, hard to tell without seeing it. Measure the length of your new motor and then measure out that far from the mounting lip of the differential and that will tell you if it will interfere when mounted.

Re: D&D 502.2 install
I was worried about fit on my D&D in my Yamaha cart as well. It's a couple inches longer than the Hitachi motor I took out. It barely fit before mating the splines. It's fine once it's on there but I was a bit worried during the install.

Re: D&D 502.2 install
Got my 506.2 replacement today. Noticed one big difference between 502.2 and pq bandit. It has no L bracket on spline end to mount it. Just the 3 holes in end to attach it. I really want to get this projext done and my cart back together, cust service closed 15 minutes before ups dropped it off. Anyone put a 506.2 on? Does it not hace the L bracket for studier install? I do not see any holes where they may have forgot to put it on?

Re: D&D 502.2 install
My motor only attaches with bolts on the end through the rear end housing. (3 or 4)

Re: D&D 502.2 install
Got it on, programmed and test drove. Ran well. I got it 5k-03 wire, hi pedal, turbo checked, and all the regen, plug braking at 0. Standard curve and played with throttle rate from 50 to 90% 4 pole, speed sensor checked and on turf mode. It accelerates a little too aggressive, read jerky. I played with throttle rate with no luck. Motor got warm but not hot after a half mile Wot. Get back to house throttle monitor is 100% with no input. I ease foot down and tears up my grass but slows. When in neutral, i depress throttle, the farther i push the monitor reads less percentage. Almost like its backwards. I know this controller learns itself, but from working to reversed input without changing a setting.

I'm guessing you got an Alltrax controller. If so do you have the correct field map installed?

Re: D&D 502.2 install
Yes, he told me 5k-0 in email (d&d) When i had the pq bandit which is a reworked stock cc motor, was told 0 -5k. I reset all trax toolbox, started over got a really nice gradual takeoff to full power, unless u floor it from zero its not aggresive. Hammer it from a stop it will tear up turf. Now i am obsessed with how hot its getting. I stop every half mile after 70 percent 4100 rpm riding at 47 to 48 volts and back of hand temperature measure it. I burned up one motor, i wanna make sure the better built heavier duty affair can handle my dumbed down neighborhood cruising or am I gonna cook another. After an evening of me varying the power for no more than 1 mile loops its too hot to touch, and is taking a charge right now. I never thought about heat til I cooked one, now its all i think of. My wife really wants her cart back.
Tl&dr How hot is too hot |
