Cart smell - new install
Noticed smell after driving cart around for a while. Not strong like something was frying but I suspect heat related.
New bandit, new controller, wires, etc. The only heat I noticed was the f/r switch and motor a little warm. Is this normal ad new systems get baked in? |

Re: Cart smell - new install
No, it's not normal to smell electrical heat. It's best to find the source of the heat before a new component fails.

Re: Cart smell - new install
Wondered if there might some sort of residue on the motor that was giving off an odor. Like I said, nothing really hot, just warm on the s1/s2 connections at f/r and motor case warm. Controller and all batt cables cool. And smell wasn't quite like electrical components burning.

Re: Cart smell - new install
Very faint when we stopped cart and got off. I lifted the seat, felt around and smell gone. Nothing too warm to keep hands on.

Re: Cart smell - new install
That doesn't sound like anything to worry about. I would test run it again and lift the seat right away for a sniff test.

Re: Cart smell - new install
when I installed my Bandit motor I seem to remember a smell also and I was worried about it because I had just replace the Controller at the same time and didn't want other problems.

Re: Cart smell - new install
I didn't smell it last night. I thought maybe some residue on the motor or antioxidant. Will never know.

Re: Cart smell - new install
I posted this very question about 4-5 years ago right after I installed my Bandit. Cart ran great but I had definitely had a slight odor. I checked the cart and didn't find anything amiss. The odor went away after running the cart for awhile (maybe 15-20 mins) and things have been fine since. I don't know what it was and I don't care. The motor has been great since. You may have something similar.
