Unhappy 19.8mph, PlumQuick Motor, Stock Controller, 4g wires and SW180 Sel.

2012 CC Precedent

Well I went to the shop to give the cart a test drive. with the Bandit motor and upgraded 4g wires and SW180 Solenoid (thanks Scotty)I only got 19.8 MPH according to Iphone GPS... Guys at shop says cart is programmed at a 3. he said that if he charges the batteries it will be faster... oh ya, when I let off the throttle, the cart like geared right down and stopped pretty quick without even braking? it this mean the regen is still hooked up?

What is all your opinions on this?

Yes your regen is still "on". You can have it adjusted via Curtis Controller access. I'm unsure if you can actually turn it off.

The brakes may be dragging. Bandit motor has regen removed.

If I'm not mistaken the 2012 is an Excel cart. When you ordered your bandit motor did you specify it was to be used with an Excel system? I ordered one 2 years ago for my 2010 Excel and get around 24 to 25. My regen braking still works too. My controller is also set on speed code 3. Here is the post when I updated. How old are your batteries?

55, they just asked for the first two letters of the serial number. I have no idea whether they sent me a motor for a excel cart or if mine is excel, or what excel is... any insight would be great.

I did read your thread and I am even more concerned why I didn't get the speed I thought I would. I even changed the solenoid to a hvy duty.

The Excel cart compute speed differently than the IQ carts do and can't be fooled with a simple speed magnet but somehow Plum Quick has a way of doing this. We have yet to figure out how...

If you gave them the first 2 letters of your serial number which is probably PH then I'm sure they gave you the correct motor. There is no need to worry about the regen, my is fine with it. Disabling the regen on an Excel isn't the same as an IQ system cart. Plum Quick has all that figured out. I'm willing to bet you're cart guy is correct. The key to speed is good batteries. If they weren't fully charged it will not be as fast. What about air pressure in the tires? I run about 20 lbs in mine. Low pressure will slow a cart down. Who did you get the replacement cables from? Sometimes the connectors aren't done properly and resistance can cause problems. After running the cart at speed for a short distance, raise the seat and feel all the battery connections. If any feel hotter than others find out why. Also, if you can reach through the back panel to the motor connections check them too. Do you have a digital volt meter? If so, use it along with the state of charge chart in the stickies and you'll get an idea of how good your battery pack is. The other option is a load test on each battery to make sure they are up to spec. One more thing, as someone else stated, dragging brakes will slow you down. Flip the switch to tow mode and push the cart. You'll be able to tell if the brakes are dragging. Just my .02. Keep us posted on what you find. Good luck

Thanks 55BigBlock, great information to have... The cart is still at the builder.. PQ called and left me a message and stated the programming on the pedal up mode needs to be at zero, prob set at 2 now (no idea how to get that done, as i don't think the builder can program). Also as you stated do a running voltage test on the battery pack to make sure the voltage is right and the pack is good. Batteries are from 2014. also stated the brake drag and tire pressure, of which I think those two things were ok...

So I want to do a voltage test on the battery pack, can you give me a run down on how to do that and what I should be looking for, or point me in the right direction... 6 x 8v...

As far as the programming is concerned, I think those are stock parameters. Mine required no programming. I have done nothing but install the motor and change my cables. At the beginning of the Club Car Electric section there are many stickies. Familiarize yourself with these. Lots of valuable info there. You need a digital volt meter. It can be a cheap one from Harbor Freight. After a full charge, let the batteries rest for several hours, then measure the voltage across the entire battery pack, all six batteries, You should get something around 50.5 to 50.9 volts. Compare the readings to the numbers on the chart. You should look in the last column, 48 Volt. You'll see the percentage of charge based on the voltage. The key is the rest period. If you measure right after the charger kicks off the readings won't give you an accurate picture. 2014 batteries ought to be okay for awhile. Try charging them and as soon as the charger kicks off unplug from the cart and plug it right back in and start another charge. Do this several times. Also make sure the batteries are full of distilled water. Only fill after a complete charge. Don't fill first then charge. Charge first then fill. See chart below. One more thing, If it was me, I would let the builder finish and then you can get it home and play with it. I really don't think you have a problem that a few tweaks won't take care of.
