2003 club car new solenoid issue
So I picked up a 2003 club cart that would run but randomly stop. I found out it was a bad solenoid. I bought an new solenoid and it ran fine after installing it for a while. Maybe a day or 2 or driving around the neighborhood the thing stopped again. Just clicks once when you hit the accelerator and doesn't go anywhere. What are the chances of this new solenoid being bad? I have seen those diode wires that connects the two big terminals could that be where the problem is?

The diode goes on the small thermals. The resistor on the large.

Re: 2003 club car new solenoid issue
I ordered a new solenoid for one of the discount suppliers, they did not send the diode or resistor, had to purchase those separately
Solenoid failed on me after a few weeks, while on vacation I ordered a new solenoid from CartsUnlimited when I got home, solenoid came from Scottyb with the required diode, resistor and instructions to install everything correctly Do yourself a favor get the best and correct part the first time |

And to the very good info posted above what is your battery voltage, and have you charged it since you bought it?

Re: 2003 club car new solenoid issue
Thanks for the information guys. I thought I bought a decent one since I spend 60 bucks for one that looked the exact same as what I had off amazon. Didn't come with anything other than the part and just used the old ones not knowing....guess I will be ordering a new one with all the stuff needed.
Teecro. Its a 48v system which I had fully charged the day before it happened. |

The batteries were reading 50.32 after it happened. They are Trojan batteries that are a few years old(cant remember off hand what the guys said)

Re: 2003 club car new solenoid issue
OK that's pretty good voltage. Do you have a pre charge resister installed across the big post on the solenoid and diode across the small post? Without the solenoid will be short lived.
