Angry CC Prec. 48v, 4g wires and Solenoid Install

Question, I am being charged $240 for just the install of the new 4g wires and HD Solenoid while building my Cart. He said it took him all day to do this and he had to fabricate something for the solenoid? I thought it just required on more hole to be drilled.

What are your thougths on this? I think its high....

Ya got to fill in the blanks...
What's the shop labor rate?
Is this labor only or with parts included?
Depending on brand and location picked it might just be an extra hole or it could be a bracket and the bigger wires do take more time to install as they are stiff...

To this I'll add while it might take me less it might just take more if I'm feeling slow but I'd charge for 2 hours labor @ 50.00 an hour and I don't have overhead that a shop would...

this is just straight labor... Bought the parts from ScottyB. no idea what the labor rate is, but he told me that he is not marking it up... So I know it over $30 per hour...

Ok well that's still my opinion but I'd not charge more than 2 hours (but not less) so unless his rate is 100.00 + an hour then yes that's high for what's an fairly easy job...

he said he had to fabricate something for the Solenoid because it didn't fit, and it took him 6 hours to do that and the wires....

I had to 'fabricate' a new bracket for my upgraded solenoid, which involved cutting the original one in half and flipping it around to make the holes line up. Took me 6 mins...

It's what they call the cost of doing business. Try and get out of an auto repair shop with less than a $500 bill.

PS I bet we haven't seen $30/hr labor rates since the eighties.

Did he make a pass through for the OBC? That may be what he's talking about.

Wires were purchased through Scotty and he includes an OBC stud with his wires...
