Yes, that is normal.

The only time it does not work with the FNR in reverse is when the charger is plugged to the cart.

Yes, the only time it won't sound off in reverse is when your charging it.

I disconnected the wires from the buzzer and ran them to the rear and connected to a 12" LED STRIP for backup lights !

That would only work on Series carts where the buzzer is controller by a micro-switch in the FNR.

The Sepex controllers drive the reverse buzzer and are not designed to provide much power.

The lights would also have to handle pack voltage.

The buzzer is really a reminder for You, not to warn others.

You can add a relay in parallel with the reverse buzzer and then control any size load (lights) you want.
