Towing / Burning
My cart is upgraded with the following: 500 Amp FSIP(GE) Controller 36-48 volts with Adjustable output and throttle response 200a continuous/800a peak Solenoid in 36 or 48 volt and BRAND NEW batteries...
I brought my cart to the lake to use to pull my 23 foot boat in and out of storage. I was moving my boat and had to turn up a slight incline (in reverse) and under the seat started smoking. I lifted the seat and it seemed like it was probably the F&R switch smoking. Will replacing the F&R switch with an upgraded one (http://www.cartsunlimited.net/f---r--switches.html) solve this problem? Thanks, |

Re: Towing / Burning
I will let Scottyb explain his HD F/R Switch offering, but I sure don't see 2g cables on the existing F/R switch. Am I missing something?

Re: Towing / Burning
You may want to replace the F/R switch with a set of solenoids or a heavy duty switch for your towing needs.

Re: Towing / Burning
Just so you understand, ALL cables that carry high current need to be optimized or no improvement is realized. You are asking your cart to do too much work than the remaining smaller cables can safely handle.

Re: Towing / Burning
Makes sense, I planned to change the rest when I did my switch... I'm assuming I'll do that next to solve all the problems.

Re: Towing / Burning
Be advised, there are two cables that pivot smoothly on the Club Car F/R switch. These two cables use lugs with smaller eyelets that can be difficult to source, especially the 2g variety.

Re: Towing / Burning
I decided to skip the HD switch and order from Scotty the HD reversing contactors kit.

Re: Towing / Burning
That is a very smart choice! Much better than a mechanical switch.
