Default XCT48400 Controller settings for smooth acceleration?

I have recently purchased a 2008 Precedent that has been converted to a LSV (street legal golf cart). The cart has 20" tires on 10" rims, XCT48400 with fan, 4 ga wires, HD solenoid, and an Admiral MOT-A2 motor. Love the controller and motor setup. I have a usb cable that I keep attached to "play" with the controller's software on my laptop. Pulls to 28 mph with 3 people on board.

My problem is getting the curves set so that I can have "smooth" non jerky acceleration. I have been "playing" with the curves and have not been able to hit the sweet spot. Using the "Turf" check box is not a viable option.
Any and all suggestions (numbers for the speed and torque) will be most appreciated.
Other than this, I love the cart.

One other question... The rear has 4 leaf spring suspension. The cart rides quite stiff even with 3-4 people on board. Can I take 1 or 2 leaves out and still maintain a good suspension for a load but make the ride a bit smoother?
Thanks

Can you post a pic of your throttle curve and ramp rate percentage. These are the two principle factors in setting up a smoother acceleration

Unfortunately, the cart is at the beach and I am presently inland. I will be going back down over the Memorial weekend holiday for 5-6 days. I will post then what the torque and speed curves look like. I know the throttle rate is set at 25%.

The curves that I remember that seem to work the best is when the speed curve goes up slowly and then ramps up quickly around 60%, while the torque curve ramps quickly then linearizes for a bit and then ramps quickly to 100% at an ~75% setting. However, I have tried so many different combinations that it's a bit of a blur.

The big problem is in the middle range... If you really feather the pedal with a gentle and constant pressure from your foot you can keep the jerkiness to a minimum. But for those that use the cart infrequently that is hard to do. Once the speed is in the 20-27 mph range the response is pretty smooth. It's the 10-20 mph range that is causing all the jerkiness.

My throttle response got much nicer when I set the Max RPM lower on my cart. I dialed it to the RPM that gave me 25MPH at full throttle. That really smoothed out my curve.

Thanks, I will give that a try when I get back to the beach. But, I like being able to push to 27-30 if needed. Right now I have the max rpm set to 6500. I certainly could have two files setup. One for when I am using the cart and another for guests and the wife. It's kinda of pain to keep switching them. It would be neat to have a switch that you could change 2 or 3 different setup files on the fly. Maybe Alltrax will develop something.

Two pics here of the default throttle set up and a curve I set. Notice the ramp rate reduction.

How fast is 6500?? With your wheels it may be pretty fast. Try to figure what max RPM gives you the max speed you want and set it there. You can use the logging function of the controller to get the RPM while driving (and compare to your GPS speed) On my cart with the gears I have, 6000 would be way faster than the cart can go. 4800 gives me 25MPH. When I backed down my max RPM from 6000 to 4800 it made the throttle response much nicer.

I have not recently monitored the rpm or all the other data that can be extracted into a CVS file.
However, the calculated speed at 6500 rpm, with 20" tires and 12.3 gear ratio is 31.4 mph. I can make almost 31 mph alone going with the wind and the windshield down. So the cart is doing what it should with this setup. I could bring the max rpm down to 6000 rpm which should get me 29 mph calculated with just me. Probably 24-25 with a load (3-4 people). For most circumstances that should be fine.
That is probably what I will try to get a smoother acceleration along with the proper curves. As a side note the highest motor temp I have observed at full throttle with 3 people on board running about 27-28 mph avg for a stretch of 4.5 miles is 141. So I think that the motor is not being over taxed. The motor temp generally stays below 130. Another thing, I have used GPS to monitor the speed of the cart and it is exactly the same as the read out I get on the "Ex-ray speedometer"

To Scottyb, does the more points you put on a curve help smooth out the response? I like the looks of the curve that you set up and I believe that I had a curve similar to yours at one point. Looking forward to getting back to the beach to try all these new variations. Hopefully I can find a setup that gives fairly smooth acceleration and still be able to run out to 30 mph if the needs arises.
Thanks for your help.

Bringing the Max RPM down won't affect the loaded speed only the max unloaded speed. I would try reducing it to 5500 or 6000.
