Default 1986 Club Car Worth A Complete Rebuild?

I have gotten a free 1986 Club Car DS. Batteries are shot, unsure about the motor. I have been putting together an estimated cost for a complete rebuild and wanted some thoughts/opinions on if a rebuild will result in a cart worth less than total parts. The total I have come up w/ so far is around $5k including batteries, lift, new seats, wheels, lift, body kit, controller package (using Scotty B's package) and possibly a new motor. I know it would be a fun project to work on and would not be able to do all at once. It would be around $2500 to get it running w/ the conversion kit and new motor if necessary and then the rest would be in pieces as I can get the funds. Any thoughts, feedback, suggestions on this would be much appreciated.

If the cart itself is in good condition, go for it. Look carefully for serious rust or bent parts. Work up an estimate assuming you will replace Motor, Controller, Batteries, etc.

Be sure to add a 48v charger and 6/8v batteries. Use the D&D 4:2A motor and C74max pkg. You will be very happy with the hunting buggie.

I have a 90 cc with the package that package from Scotty. It is a torque monster. The problem with the cart was it took me a while to get all the rattles out of it. New lift, hubs, tightening everything up. Now it's nice and quiet. If your starting with a freebie, you starting ahead of me.
