89DS build
Well I just ordered some stuff to start my build. I picked up a 89 ds for 200$ in pretty rough shape, but with what it came with I thought it was a pretty good deal. The v-glide was burnt up and it had a redneck engineered lift to accommodate a set of 22" tires on 10" rims. The tires and rims are pretty much new. I ordered a jakes 6" spindle lift to get the suspension in working order and some seat covers. I did some trading with the owner of the local battery shop to get a new set of 8v Trojans, a charger, and he is going to build me a 2 ga set of cables. I ripped out all of the electronics and will be ordering the c-74 kit from Scotty in the next week or two when money gets right. I plan on turning down the controller to run with the stock motor until I save up some for a d&d. Installing what I've got ordered along with some fiberglass work should have me a rolling chassis ready for the conversion With batts charger and cables. I will post progress along the way and be asking questions as this is my first cart. Is there anything that I am missing or am I on the right track?

Got around to testing my stock 36v motor today. I had continuity between a1/2 and s1/2. Hooked a jumper and battery up and it worked! So 500$ less than I thought just to get on the trail and I will upgrade later. How much dust should come out of the motor when it's taken off the rear end? There was a lot of black dust but no grinding or noises when I tested the motor. Is there anything I should do for maintenance to the inside of the motor?
