good ideas if I was a little more handy with metal work... not a skilled fabricator. ACE didn't have them. Looks like I'll get them fabricated for me.

You can buy bolts that will work too. A good trailer place should have those longer ubolts.

the other thing I have seen somebody on one of these forums do is to use 4 bolts. they had a plate on top of the leaf springs with 4 holes in it and used the 4 bolts instead of the u bolts. as I remember they were having no issues with it at that time.

Just run 4 longer bolts per side. Your axle won't move any, as you have a welded bottom support on your axle, as well as side to side protection from this same part...

Good move on adding the HD rear leafs - Most people forget about that

I think the long bolt idea works if the bolts are hardened ..... what do you guys think.... maybe a #5 ?

Yes i forgot to add that. a grade 8 bolt is harder but a 5 actually is probably a bit better. an 8 will take more to pull apart but a 5 will take more to shear as it will deform a bit and is not so brittle.

Of course in this app it probably does not matter. I should take one of my old u bolts in to work and check its hardness...

you see I never knew bolts had numbers to them or grades. Never thought of using single bolts... great idea.

mikesmotortoys- you got some wicked carts on your site, nice!
