Default 91 Club Car will not go foward

This cart has had issues for a while, if you did not put f/w switch in middle the batteries would go dead. Then it stopped going forward, I replaced the f/r switch and still only have reverse. If I switch the wires on the switch the cart goes forward only. I also discovered the "key" switch has no effect so it has gone bad. I am looking at all wires for issues and test the motor shortly. Any thoughts?

Key switch test ok. No effect if wires are connected to each other or not. Wires and connections appear in good shape.

36 volt, resistor cart. There is a post "Reassembling 1991 36V Club Car Getting Messy" the posted wiring chart matches mines, would not let me post a link since I am new.

Thanks

it is more than likly welded closed making it hot at all times

try discounting it to see if it is bad

solenoid test
Quote:
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. remove all wires, restorer , and diode from solenoid
test 1
Connect an volt meter, set on continuity, place on the two large terminal studs. The meter should indicate no continuity, Replace the solenoid if continuity is present.
test 2
Using jumper wires attach from main positive and main negative of battery pack to the two small solenoid studs, polarity is not important. You should hear a click as the solenoid engages, and the meter should indicate continuity on the two large terminals. Replace the solenoid if continuity is not present.
if solenoid clicks rapidly solenoid is bad

I disconnected and the switch is no longer shorting, so I think you are right Crash. I did a quick test one and appeared to fail, had a storm come up so I am finished for today. Will test further in next day or 2 and post results. Just FYI the charger was "jumping" around before I disconnected the solenoid , seems ok now.
