More speed and torque
Morning All. I've got a 85 Club Car DS electric cart. Redid it last year, new everything outside. I replaced the wiring to clean it up and upgraded the size of the wire. My question is this, how can I get some more speed and torque. moves along good but slows on the hills and very hard to get it in the truck for camping. I don't have a lift kit, new batteries, but motor and all is stock.

Re: More speed and torque
Is it a resistor cart or controller? 36 or 48v?

Re: More speed and torque
It's a 36 Volt with resistors

Re: More speed and torque
Depending on how much money you want to spend...you could replace the resistor setup with a new solid state system and then upgrade to 48v using your 36v motor....you would see the old girl dance!

Re: More speed and torque
I'm sure it would. Don't really want to mess with the batteries. They are new last year. I've heard of cutting the resistors down. And also replacing the motor. I've looked into the motor and all that I've found say they are for soils state controls only. Cutting the resistors I've seen that can burn up the motor. If I have the motor rewrapped , will that help. Also if I put a lift kit and tires will that gain anything more then speed

Just read your last note - the motor can be re-done for a nominal increase in performance - bigger tires will add speed but reduce torque. |

Re: More speed and torque
Speed speed speed speed. Bigger bigger bigger bigger. Everyone wants big and fast.
What the heck ever happened to low and slow? Personally, I like a nice slow cruise. Perhaps if you are street legal and driving on roads you need fast but other than that I would just as soon as take it easy. |
