2008 Club Car Precedent and LED Light Kit
Hello fellow cart enthusiasts! I figured I'd finally post instead of only lurking for so long. Glad I found this place.
So, I purchased a 2008 CC Precedent from a friend and wanted to add an LED headlight and taillights, which led me to purchasing the LED Light Kit. I also had to purchase the 12 pin connector. As of now, I have the headlight installed along with the push-pull switch in the dash, wiring harness connected behind the dash, but I've hit a wall now that I've gotten to connecting the wiring to my batteries. There are cables extending from behind my motor that are not connected to anything, which is only adding to the confusion. Attached is an image of my battery setup if it's any help. I can certainly take more pictures to provide a better idea and if it can be helpful to figure out what I need to do to get my lights working. |

Re: 2008 Club Car Precedent and LED Light Kit
Looking at your picture we can see that you have 4 12-volt batteries which makes hooking your light kit up the easiest but still by many considered wrong in that you end up with an unequal battery tap.
Most here including myself would suggest that you install a 48 to 12 volt power converter to run lights and other 12 volt add on. BUT you don't have to do this. As I rarely drive my cart at night I've still got mine hooked up to 16 volts as I've got the 6 8-volt battery pack.... Ideally you should have an unused black wire coming into the battery compartment from the motor side with a female spade connector on it, this will provide the (-) side. This will allow the OBC to sense energy used by the lights and factor it in for proper charging. You may find that you have an unused blue wire coming from your main pack (+) you can connect the blue wire in your light kit there. If you do not have these connections you can connect your light kit to any one of your batteries by connecting the blue wire in the kit to (+) post of a battery and the black wire to the (-) post of the same battery. That will provide 12 volts to your light kit. |
