Default Regen causes tires to lock

Hi again guys and gals... I had the cart lifted 3" and added 22" tires. now when I take my foot off the excel pedal the cart regen does not kick in until the carts slows then all of a sudden (only when foot completely off excel pedal) the carts locks up the back tires.... it did not do this to the point it locked up the back tires with the 205's on the cart before lift...

No one messed with the programming, it still has the stock Curtis controller... any suggestions...

note: I have received the XCT400 from Scotty B. and have not installed it, and it may be awhile before I can...

Your rear axle is probably twisting when braking.

Make sure the U-bolts holding the axle are tight and not allowing the axle to rotate.

Unfortunately it seems common on some lifted carts, the rotating axle pulls the brake cable tight and it locks the brake.

You can also feel the brake pedal itself "pulsate" sometimes.

I am sure somebody will respond but in the past people have had to switch backing plates from one side to the other witch puts the brake mechanism upside-down and gives you the extra slack needed for the lifted cart...this is in addition to torquing the u-bolts to keep the housing from moving.

First You need to make sure those U-bolts are as tight as possible, those big tires put a lot of torque on the axle and in my opinion they should be all the 4-bolts setup with larger diameter and heavy wheel/tire combos.

If the driver side cable is too short, You can replace it with a longer "passenger" side cable.

There is also a sticky on how to swap the hubs and flip them upside down so the exiting brake cables get more slack:

I had the same thing happen.

You can go easy :1) get a longer brake cable on the drivers side by replacing it with a passenger side one and really tighten down the u bolts.

Or the harder way, flip the brakes and also really tighten them down.

I followed mine while my wife drove to see what was happening after my 3in jakes lift.

I did the cable route and didn't need any jacks as I could get to everything from underneath ; no removing floor mat etc. this is the cheap and easy way.

I still have the 1 ubolt setup and want to move to the box 2 u bolt style ASAP as it just feels more stable.

There is a pinned thread at the top of this forum. That is how you do it. If you have a single u bolt set up, email me at htownblue@gmail.com and I can tell you a "modified" way to accomplish the same thing.

I would not do a lift without reversing the mechanism for the brakes. Over time your cables will stretch and end up needing replaced.
