Relay Wiring Help -- Diode Needed?

Hi All - Looking for some direction on wiring up (2) Carling switches, with (2) SIEMENS VF4-4511 relays.

I want to activate my tailights / switch LEDs when either or both switches are on the ON position, but operate the DRIVING LIGHTS / LED LIGHT BAR independently.

DRIVING LIGHT SWITCH --> (RELAY) --> TAIL LIGHTS / SWITCH LEDs
LED LIGHT BAR --> (RELAY) --> TAIL LIGHTS / SWITCH LEDs

I have it wired up but clearly there needs to be a diode to prevent the voltage from traversing the wiring, both lights are ON at the same time when EITHER switch is turned on as they are the (2) common triggers for input (relay - 86).

I attached my schematic if anyone with more experience in this area can take a look!

You only need 1 relay to control the tail lights, and an isolation diode from each switch to activate the relay.

Use a 1N4001 thru 1N4007 diode for all three diodes.

Sergio - Thanks - I was secretly hoping you would see this, the reason I used a second relay is to ALSO control the illumination LEDs on the switches themselves. So at night when you are using the lights they will be on and during the day they are off. How does that change your diagram?

I think I have some 1N4006's here somewhere.

The diagram I posted accomplishes that, follow the output of the relay (terminal 87), it goes to the taillights as well as the small illumination led of both switches.

The larger illumination of each individual switch only comes ON when the respective switch is ON.

1N4006 diodes will work fine.

Made some progress, The driving lights / LED light bar are now working independently of each other on the separate switches!

Thinking I did not install the diode correctly between 85 / 86 as the tail lights / switch leds are on all the time regardless of switch position. It is supposed to be the only thing connected to the terminals rather than inline with the wiring?

If the taillights are ON without the relay being engaged, make sure You are using terminal 87 (N.O) and not 87a (N.C).

It looks like on your picture Orange (#30) should be +12v source and Green (#87) connects to the Taillight and small Led tab on the switches.

Orange is #30 -- 12v source.

Green is #87 - to connect to tail lights / switch leds.

Is the diode between 85 / 86 installed correctly? I have the solid bar pointed from 85 to 86 but it is soldered in line (not diretly to the harness base) if that matters.

The diode band/solid bar (cathode) should point to the "positive" side when used as a "fly-back" diode.

The positive side should be the one connected to the other diodes (band side) coming from each activation switch.

The side of the fly-back diode without the band (anode) should be pointing to the negative side.

Switches:

Terminals #7 and #8 should be jumpered together to negative.
Terminal #6 from each switch are connected to the Output of the relay (#87).
Terminal #2 is the source power +12v
Terminal #3 is the output power to Headlight or Light bar and also the diode (anode no-band) connection to the relay coil (#86)
