Default Dragging brakes

2002 DS series. My self adjusters keep over tightening to the point of slowing me down and heating up the hub.
I keep backing off the adjuster but it tightens back up almost immediately
Any advice would me appreciated

Is your cart lifted?

Secondly, remove the drum and manually adjust the shoes to a point they are more loose.

If the sliders are not moving freely they will adjust them selfs too tight.

The cart is not lifted. The only way I know to back the pads off , is to spin the adjustment wheel back.
Also, just put a new cable on but it already had this issue.
How important is cable adjustment ? Could this be part of the problem ?
The carts new to me.
Thanks

Cable adjustment is definitely an issue if it's too tight. It should be adjusted enough where the pedal feels stiff enough, but not hard.

Yes you will spin the adjustment wheel to move the pads inward towards each other. Pushing downward on the lock mechanism at the bottom of the wheel with a screwdriver will help you turn the adjustment wheel.

Thanks for the reply. I think I figured it out.
I just got the cart and the guy before me said " I did a brake job "
Well it appears that one shoe is different. In other words it was cobbled together.
Getting new shoes and I'll see if that does it.
Took a bit to notice. I think it came off a earlier model.
