Default 05 precedent charging and lights

I have a 05 precedent that worked perfectly fine 2 days ago. I bought brand new batteries less than 6 months ago and never had any issues. I recently bought the light kit deluxe and installed it myself. Once I finished installation per the instructions provided my front led headlight will only emit 3 out of the 12 bulbs. I re-checked all installation instructions again. All was fine. I then drove the it to my garage to connect charger since I thought batteries might be low (worth a shot). My charger made the normal click noise with amp showing and then like a surge and nothing now. I can plug in charger but nothing happens and yellow batt light flashes. Any thoughts? All other lights work including turn signals.

Are you using a voltage reducer for your lights? Do you have four 12 volt batteries or six 8 volt batteries? The charger should have nothing to do with the light kit at all. I think you have two issues. Post pictures of your battery pack on here if you can and let us see where your connections are made for your light kit and we'll work from there.

I do not have a voltage reducer yet. That was going to be my next purchase today most likely (only reason i didn't purchase is because the local shop where I live said that its not required because of my battery pack). i have 4 12 volt deep cycle interstate batteries. I doubled checked the battery pack routing last night and also found a few of my battery wires with heavy corrosion. I went ahead and replaced the cable terminals. The headlight harness instructions I have told me to take the long lead of the fuse assembly and connect to blue lead coming off #4 battery. then route to avionics cover and connect short lead to blue 10-12 gauge connector. I double and triple checked the wire routing. even took the headlight back off and re-installed and connected.

Troubleshooting: My 2 cents.
1.) I would test the head light set manually on a separate 12v source.
2.) If the lights are working correctly: Verify all cart electrical connections are correct. If anything looks corroded, partially melted, loose or missing, fix those first.
3.) Try charging again before re-installation of the lights.
4.) If all of the above are satisfactory, then re-install the lights. (verify that the connections that the directions indicate are actually 12v (measured with a meter), if not, a basic wiring job should work.)

Just because something comes with directions, doesn't mean it will always work.
Any non-stock wiring, custom setups and damaged or worn parts can possibly create headaches. I've had my own problems recently, all self induced and very expensive!

Good Luck!

I agree with arcitech. Make sure the light actually works before we start blaming the cart. You may just have a defective light.
