DS project
In the next month or so I want to start a complete rebuild on a ds cart. I just bought the project cart a resistor cart with a v-glide.
When you guys start a project like this do you rip out the old wires Well take the cart apart first and get it down to the frame? This is a 36volt cart, all that is going away. I would like to start with a lift of about 3in It will be going to 48 volts. I would like to get 30mph push button F&R After working on the California roadster its sweet to just turn a switch for F&R. I already cleared it with the wife. [the part she didn't ask was how much will it cost] if I can do this for about 3k That should be good. I will have to have Scotty's help with parts. |

Re: DS project
Use the C74 beast conversion kit, SW202 shift kit, and 2g cables through out to feed an aftermarket motor and possible gear change to reach your target speed.

Re: DS project
Yes, take EVERYTHING out and start with just the frame since you'll be replacing everything anyway. This will allow you to assess the condition of the battery tray and make sure the frame isn't bent anywhere.
While everything is out you can clean and neutralize any acid and you have the option to paint, powercoat or line the battery tray or frame if you choose. Start with a clean slate. |

Re: DS project
Take it to frame. If u are adding accecorries think about wiring runs and placement of those accessories. It is more a pain after everything is together.

Re: DS project
when doing the lift kit do you guys order a kit with wheels and tires? also I was thinking about a 3in lift, But it looks like its better to go 6in. Any input would be helpful.
I am still putting my plan together for ordering parts. When I make the order I will try to do it all at one time. |

Re: DS project
You can do either. It depends on if the vendor has what you want. I ordered separate. I went six cuz I like it but u can flip if not careful turning.

My opinion...go with a 6". The extra lift combined with the larger tire diameter you're probably going to go with will increase your speed. Also, when lifting, consider a double A arm lift or long travel if your budget allows. You'll appreciate the ride comfort and stability so much more over the spindle lifts. Plus they typically give more adjustment for camber and toe. |
