ds lug stud problem
91 CC DS
ran into a little problem today....was taking the rear tires off to check the brakes because they started grabbing real hard while we were on vacation and one of the lugs began spinning in the axle. does anyone have any idea on how to get the tire off carefully(has magnesium wheels). thanks in advance, you guys have always been helpful. |

Re: ds lug stud problem
Chisel Hammer...but thats not careful. I cant remember if you can pull the axle...destroy center cap, remove nut then a snap ring. The snap ring part is what i am questioning. An idea at the least.

Re: ds lug stud problem
stud (3) can be held from the rear
try vise grips if not then ether a small weld or grind off the back of the stud once you get it off see if stud stripped out or axle hole stripped |

Re: ds lug stud problem
You can also drill the lug out from the front

Re: ds lug stud problem
Thanks guys, I finally found a thread late last night and decided to try and drill it out. Had to use a dremel with a cut off wheel to cut the to off the chrome acorn style lug nut(actually worked great), then drilled the stud. Actually took longer to find a thread with the idea than it took to drill it out....all is good now. Everyone have a great 4th off July.
