Will xs power batteries work for a golf cart?
Hey guys I'm new to this but I have a 2000 club car 48v golf cart and I was wondering if I could replace the 6 batteries with 3 16 volt xs power deep cycle batteries or 4 of the xs power 12 volt deep cycle batteries? I figured I would ask and make sure before I spend the money and find out the hard way. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Re: Will xs power batteries work for a golf cart?
They won't perform normally. Those are AGM batteries - very good for some things...not so useful for carts. Those appear to have about 50AH capacity max - whereas golf cart batteries are typically 160AH. That means they will only run for 1/3 or less of normal range. Plus - your charging system won't recharge AGM batteries properly. They will always be undercharged - and start to fail quickly.

Re: Will xs power batteries work for a golf cart?
The way that golf cart batteries are designed and built is directly proposional to the type of useage that we give a golf cart. The high amount of cycling puts a huge demand on the internal lead plates inside the battery and that design of the plates is not duplicated totally in any other battery. Other batteries will work for a while but will fail much earlier than a true golf cart battery. The most popular brands of golf cart batteries are: Trojan, Crown and US Battery. There are other brands and one thing I have learned is compare ampere hour ratings and also the weight of the batteries when choosing what you are going to purchase. Hope this helps.

Re: Will xs power batteries work for a golf cart?
Thanks guys I was trying to figure out what would be the problem as to why they wouldn't work before I got them. I'm glad I came here first. This is off the battery subject but no one makes any nice dashboard/ center consoles for a 2000 club car ds? I've seen the plain ones that fit 2 speakers and the radio but I was wondering if they made any nicer looking ones than that, like the ez-go has the one that reaches down to the floor board with cup holders and pockets along with speaker holes and a spot for the radio
