Intermittently complete loss of power
Hey everyone, I have another issue I can't figure out where to start troubleshooting. 2000.5 club car ds, 48v.
Cart will work fwd and rev just fine, then intermittently a complete loss of power. I'll be going fwd full throttle and I'll feel it just cut out. I'll press the pedal several times, hearing it click, but no power.. Once stopped, it won't go fwd or rev at all, like something just isn't registering. After a few min (sometimes 2 sometimes 10+) it just starts working again have full power in both directions. This started happening a few months ago maybe 1/50 rides, now almost every time, and sooner into the ride.. I've read about the many switches that can go bad, but I believe the fwd/rev is good because it works, when it works. Could a solenoid or relay switch be going bad? Thanks in advance! |

Re: Intermittently complete loss of power
Give a tug on all the battery cables and look to see if you have a melted battery post. That's the most common on what you are describing.

Re: Intermittently complete loss of power
Good thought. Batteries cables are all good and tight. I've melted posts before so I check them regularly.
The light and everything work when it stalls too, so I don't think it's a power issue. |

Re: Intermittently complete loss of power
carts dead but hear the solenoid click so you know you have power all the way to that point. You need to test solenoid, and controller at this point

Re: Intermittently complete loss of power
My guess is solenoid or controller if the solenoid is clicking.

Tested the solenoid following these instructions - https://axleaddict.com/auto-repair/H...a-Bad-Solenoid
Weird thing is, the solenoid simply doesn't register anything.. large terminals or the small ones. Cart has full charge @ (51.6v) There's no click coming from the solenoid and step 7 has no reading. Where should I look next? Or is this telling me the solenoid is bad? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Intermittently complete loss of power
I recently had similar symptoms. It turned out to be the solenoid. However, you should have battery pack voltage when measuring from B- of the controller to the large lug of the solenoid Red wire. As for not reading voltage on the small posts(coil voltage), more experienced people on this forum will chime in to help troubleshoot going forward. You may have to give more information as to what your cart's wiring diagram is by using the 'Sticky notes' in this forum.

Appreciate the info. I think I'll just replace the solenoid and see what happens. After 16 years or abuse I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Intermittently complete loss of power
Could be an OBC lockout issue...go through the OBC reset procedure and then you may have to bypass the OBC and the lockout system to see if that solves your issue.
