AMD 7144 vs PQ Executioner - What's your choice?

I'm torn between the AMD 7144 and the PQ Executioner. Both are in my price range and will be paired with the Alltrax XCT500a.

Which would you choose and why?

It's hard to compare because PQ doesn't tell you anything about the motor except to expect 30MPH. When I bought the 7144 I looked at HP and RPM. Just my thoughts.

Also hard to say because we don't know what your needs are or where and how you will use the cart. For example a high speed motor may not last a month in the steep woods creeping around for game or pulling the boat trailer, so more info is needed.

I have to PQ Executioner, it can be custom wound per your needs so comparison will be difficult. Mine is both speed and torque, for very hilly and gravel/dirt roads (with Curtis 500a). If I was to do it all over again after using it the past couple years, i'd........ get the very same one!

And you're talking almost $200 price difference if that makes a difference to you or not.

My usage is primarily street driving but I live in a neighborhood with some steep hills and ones with a gradual incline. I'm not too concerned with top speed past 25 mph. My needs are to maintain that 25 mph speed on the hills and while carrying passengers. My budget is the $500-600 range. I suppose I'm open to any motor out there, not just the Executioner or AMD 7144.

I hate that I'm sounding a bit like a broken record with this post, but I am struggling to figure out what is best for me from the other posts on this topic. Seems like I need a good motor that has a balance between speed and torq. From what I was told by Robby at PQ, the Executioner has a max RPM around 6000. I am told it will give me the added torq for the hills, but the quality battery pack will be what gets me up those hills while maintaining speed.

This is good info. I don't have so much gravel but the roads I ride have some pretty steep hills. I just want to maintain my speed up these hills the best I can, especially while carrying a load.

From a stock motor on the hills I travel and now (Roughly 5 degree grade), it can actually gain speed if i floor it while going up lol, with just the wife and I. I top out on a flat ground around 27.5 mph gps.
IMO either motor should preform well depending on the purpose they are built for.

Both motors are very good. I have both the AMD 7144 and the PQ Executioner. I currently use the AMD.

When I tested both with the Curtis 1268 at the same settings, I found that the torque was about the same. Could not tell any difference between the two. Both pulled very strong, able to accelerate up the hills.

As for the top speed, I found the AMD was about 2 mph faster. Both were well above 30 mph.
As I said, I tested both using the same settings on the Curtis 1268.

However, PQ can and does wind the Executioner different for different users, so YMMV.
Also, I found the AMD to be about $200 cheaper.

Another note: the AMD I bought came with standard 8 pole magnet while the PQ came with 4 pole magnet. I did adjust the Curtis settings to account for the number of magnet poles.
