Default Advice for upgrades to 2003 DS 48 volt.

I am taking delivery of a 2003 DS 48 volt this wee. I am putting on a trailer hitch and buying a small dump trailer. It will be used to pull a smaill mower and weed wacker around my neighborhood to mow the 3 lawns i take care of The neighborhood is a typical florida neighborhood with typical mild hills. SHould I be looking at immediate upgrades? Controller? Motor?

Oh yes, this type of extended slow load pulling is the hardest situation for a DC motor. It will get hot - too hot, and damage will occur eventually

So don't leave me hanging. I am not pulling anything huge. Small poly dump trailer and typical small toro self propelled inside. Without breaking the bank, what kind of upgrades should I be making. Is there a one stop shopping type purchase that will get the job done?

I had the same cart! Sold it though. I went with a 500 amp controller from Scottyb and was extremely pleased with the results and ease of install.
He can sell you exactly what you need!

I would run it until it breaks...and if it doesn't then you are ahead...if it breaks you will know what the weak spot is...

That's laughable advice. Worth every penny you pay for it.

Personally I don't recommend to pull mowers with electric golf carts because I know what the results of extended high torque low speed operation does to a DC motor drive system. Stuff gets hot due to excessive amp draw and melts down. If you're lucky the F&R goes, if your unlucky the motor or controller or both - go down. Call any motor company on the net and ask them which one of their motors they want to sell yo to pull a commercial mower? The answer is none.

I think the point is being mixed up here. The OP is looking to buy a tow behind trailer, or yard cart, such as the one you would use behind your lawn tractor. He wants to put his push mower, and his weed wacker in the cart to transport them from property to property to trim up the lawns that he mows. Can't be more than a couple hundred pounds total, if that
