Fast to Slow
2011 Precedent,Installed speed code 5 from Shelby boosted speed to 20-22 mph.Ran the way for about 2 weeks before slowing back not 14-15 mph.Acted like the batteries were week but tested all over 8volts battery pack over 50 load test on hill down to around 46 volts.Reinstalled speed code 3 down to 10 mph. Changed speed sensor, and MCOR ,same results.Any chance the controller or motor over taxed by speed code 5.Need advice on which way to go next. Thanks

Re: Fast to Slow
The Speed Code 5 totally re-writes the software in your controller. This question would probably be most accurately answered by the people you bought the Speed Code 5 from, or you could buy an aftermarket controller that would give you the same results with less headache.

Re: Fast to Slow
Same results as in increased speed? I have heard that someone rebuilds controllers. This is a Curtis brand.Would you recommend a aftermarket rather than rebuild the original?

Re: Fast to Slow
It depends on what you're after. If you want golf course style performance, go for the rebuild. If you want increased performance, go with something like the Alltrax XCT. The XCT300 can be used with your vehicle's factory motor without upgrading the cables or the solenoid. The XCT400 can be used with the factory motor as well, but heavy duty cables and a heavy duty solenoid must be installed due to the increased amp load. Both controllers will offer increased performance over the stock controller.

Re: Fast to Slow
Thanks JJance....
The XCT300 will give you the results you want. You will get added speed and a slight increase in torque. The increase of torque will feel fairly substantial because the throttle settings of the XCT will give you a much more clean and crisp throttle feel than the Curtis. The Curtis is built for golf and is designed to prevent wheel spin on takeoff in an attempt to damage the turf. The XCT throttle is fully adjustable to tune it exactly how you want it. The software is free on the Alltrax website. All you need is a laptop computer and a USB printer cable. Most people don't even mess with it though. The factory configuration works very well for most users. |

Re: Fast to Slow
Thanks David,I also several days ago talked with Robby at Plum Quick and he said I could also get similar results from going with the bandit motor with my present set up. Im kinda still in limbo on which way to go waiting on the person that sold me the speed code 5 programmer. If i chose to go with act 300 is that a fairly easy install or does it require modification?
