Plasti-dip / Côte

Anyone sprayed thier body panels / roof at home with this stuff? Did it stick well, look good etc.

I want to change my cart from green to white, vehicle wrap looks to cost $300 (done by someone else), and new cowls & roof would be way more. Just trying to go plain white in color so I don't need anything crazy.

Any ideas?

That depends....
I have used plasti dip on multiple vehicles but mostly just for trim pieces and emblems. Works great for those items. stays on good. I have the lettering on my Silverado that have had plasti dip on them for over three years and it still looks like new.

That being said, there are several things you need to keep in mind.

1) plasti dip will not dry smooth. It will have a texture to it. So if you are looking for an automotive paint finish, plasti dip is not for you.

2) if you are going off road in your buggy, the plasti dip can be torn and ripped by branches and such. If you have a strictly street cart, than you're good to go.

3) if you will be doing the whole body, I would suggest getting the glossifier as well. this will put something of a clear coat on the plasti dip protecting it "some what" from the elements and handling / washing. The glossifier dries fairly hard and can still be peeled off with the plasti dip without harming the original cart finish.

Take these into consideration and good luck with your buggy.

It's for on road use only. I'm planning on "repainting" the roof and dash.

I did a complete plasti dip paint job on one of my club car car ds last year,,the result was pretty cool, just make sure you did a good prep jop on your body because you will see every single imperfection,, look a the pic i join, my RXV is standard gloss black, the ds is plasti dip without glossifier...

You may want to do a bit more research on the prices of cowls / rears? I have seen the color injected ones (the color isn't painted on but rather the actual color of the plastic) selling for less than $300 for both. Roof would be more. What's nice about those is that, as the color is all the way through the piece, you don't notice the inevitable scratches and dings. Just a thought.

I did mine a few months ago and although it can scratch, it can take some abuse. I have scuff marks from shoes, washed it several times and run through bushes on the golf course and no scratches. I do have a scratch from taking off the seat but it's easy to repair.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube that shows how to apply, repair and maintain it to last years.

If I can find a cowl and rear for under 300 that would be ideal.. I'll only have to plasti dip the roof and dash to match...

Here are a couple of pics of mine (below) I just did.

Things I found out....
1.) Use black first than the color you want if going a deep color like I did.
2.) It REALLY needs to dry. I touched mine too early and it peeled off.
3.) If you want a finish like a car... this is not for you. It has a rough finish like said before.
4.) It collects dirt like crazy. I'm lucky... it hoses off easy enough and I am at a camp ground so most other carts are dirtier than mine.
5.) Forget pinstripes or anything small. They will not stick.
6.) I used glossifier and was happy. Better on the black than the blue.
7.) Where my seat hits the body the Plast-dip has rubbed off.
8.) More compliments than I expected.
9.) Watch every video you can on how to apply. This stuff is trickier than a normal spray can... but is fun.
