2003 club car ds 48 iq no speed, slow
Just bought a 2003 club car 48 volt ds iq. By my research it should be a regen has a q in serial number. Starting out going slower than normal. If you pumped the pedal you could get a little more speed. Now it starts off ok sometimes then dies down slow. Sometimes it starts very slow. The regen braking is not working or the cart doesn't have regen braking. What would cause the speed issues and no regen braking. It also pulled hills slower. Any advice? Speed sensory? Mcor? Or ? How can I test on this year cart. It does have plug under shifter for iq. Thanks in advance.

The first thing to check is the batteries (no matter what the seller told you about them) - you need a digital voltmeter and a hill to climb. Then follow THIS THREAD and report your findings. If the batteries are good - then you can move on to other troubleshooting tests. Always eliminate the batteries as the cause of "going slow" first before looking anywhere else.

Test your batteries first. If the batteries are ok, read this thread....
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...nsor-test.html If you determine that the speed sensor is bad, don't buy a cheap one on eBay. Get a good quality factory sensor. There are 2 different speed sensors for IQ motors, the ADC sensor looks like a top hat and is held onto the end of the motor with 2 screws. Then there is the GE motor sensor that snaps into place. It fits flush with the cap on the end of the motor. Your 2003 was built with the GE motor, so unless it's been changed out, that's the one you'll need. You can post pictures here of your motor if you need help identifying it. |

Drive it down a hill and take it out of Forward while driving. Flip it into neutral while still moving. Does the cart continue to roll or does it slow itself to a stop?

I drove it to a hill and did test. It did slow it down and it beeped but never came to a stop. Just slowed down. So does that me it is working. Could something be disconnect causing it to not slow down when you are driving it down a hill. Thanks very much for all your help. |

Re: 2003 club car ds 48 iq no speed, slow
Sounds like you have a high speed magnet installed in the motor (this will keep the regen braking from limiting your speed). It also sounds like you have a bad MCOR causing fluctuation of speeds. You mentioned that sometimes it would be slow getting up to speed, but sometimes it would work fine. Classic MCOR failure symptoms. The correct MCOR replacement part for your cart is AM293101 - MCOR4 conversion kit.

How do I tell if the mcor has already been upgraded to the conversion kit or not. Would you have a pic so I know if I need the whole kit or just the mcor 4. I took it out yestarday and it ran good the first time. Then 5 mins later slow speed and if you mash the peddle you can usually get more speed. Thanks a lot |
