Default How to repair/replace controller ev4l48xb2

My cart died the other day 1995-1997 club cart and I had an ezgo mechanic come out and look at it. He said the controller is bad. He said they dont make this controller anymore and he wont do aftermarket on it because they only deal with OEM.

Model # of controller is ev4l48xb2.

He said it looks like they converted my cart from a 36v to a 48v. I am unsure what to do now. Are there places you can send in controllers to be repaired? or Is there somethign I can easily / affordably replace it with?

thanks.

buy the proper Alltrax aftermarket controller. It is far better than OEM.

It is a GE controller. Since the repair guy said it was maybe converted from 36v to 48v maybe its a stock 48v controller for club cart?

That is the part number of the infamous Regen-1 controller (T-shaped).

I think some folks have done entire harness + controller conversions to moderns systems.

FSIP(flight systems) advertises conversion kits both new and reman. Also 350amp upgrade kits.

If it was me, I would contact David at http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/ Have the serial no. (of the cart) ready and anything you know about the cart.

Yep - I'm dead familiar with that controller - I run one. When mine gives-up-the-ghost I plan to convert to IQ - which will require a new wiring harness and a few other OEM bits and pieces. David at revolution is knowledgeable and can assemble a "kit" for you. If your mechanic is competent, he can install the necessary bits. Your cart IS NOT a conversion - just an early model Regen type.

You can also buy a replacement Regen 1 controller from FSIP and others that will plug and play, if you don't want a performance increase option (which is what you'll get while converting to IQ)

And lastly - there is an outfit that will repair that old controller if its not burned-up. You can contact them golframacom . I would hesitate to do that though - because the repair will only replace failed components inside and the rest of the internals in your controller are 20 years old...so there's no telling how long a repair would last.

Thanks for your help. I called those places. I sent the controller in to see if it can be repaired. Hoping this is the cheapest route. Its $150 to repair

OK - please update this thread with the results. There a few of those old soldiers still out-and-about, so if there's a good/cheap solution, it may help others.
