Default voltage reducer common ground?

Hi,

I've got 2 voltage reducers that I purchased from different BGW sponsors.

One of them has 5 wires: 48+, 48-, 12+, 12-, and keyswitch.

One of them as only 4 wires because the 48V and 12V circuits share a common ground.

What are the pros/cons of each setup?

TJ

As far as I know they all use the common negative for 12v and 48v

Sergio would know for sure, I think that is likely set up to give you an isolated 12 volt power source. Useful for radios etc.

they are no pros or cons they both work to reduce your 48v to 12 v .. 4 wire can be wired to key also

Almost all reducers have common ground between the high and low voltage side even if they have separate wires. I bet if you measure between the two negative wires that they are internally connected. You need to look for an "Isolated" reducer which they do make if you want to isolate the grounds.
