Solenoid wiring.
Hey guys. Trying to trace a problem at my solenoid. Just installed a new knockoff mcor on a 06 iq. 48v.
The solenoid was not closing. I removed it and tested directly to pack.pos and neg. No click. I put on a cheap white Rodgers until I can get oem. The control wires, blue blue/white. I have voltage on both. The light blue is pack.and the bw has 20 v. I also have pack voltage constant on both big post. Main pos side and the yellow that goes to the controller. If the coil is open, should there be voltage at the yellow going to controller. Thanks for looking |

Re: Solenoid wiring.
If the pre-charge resistor is in place you will read voltage on both large posts.

Re: Solenoid wiring.
You may be reading voltage coming from the controller capacitors. Flip to TOW and disconnect positive and negative from battery pack. Take all of the wires off of the solenoid. Check for continuity between the two large posts. You should NOT have continuity there. When you apply 48v DC to the small posts (positive on one side and negative on the other, polarity not important unless you have a diode) the solenoid will click and you should then see continuity between the two large posts. I believe that's probably how you tested the OEM solenoid you removed. Try that on the white/rogers solenoid and see if it works and it will tell the tale for sure. If the solenoid works when bench tests, you may want to bypass the microswitch in the Chinese MCOR and see if it'll work. un-plug the two-pin connector from the MCOR and put a jumper between the green wire and the blue wire within the connector and see if it'll run. If it runs, order an MCOR4 conversion kit and send the other one back to China. You'll be glad you did.

Should I have voltage at the motor if not moving.

Re: Solenoid wiring.
Depends on where your meter leads are. I think you're digging much deeper than you need to dig. Bench test the solenoid and see if it works. Put it back on the car, and if it doesn't work we'll keep digging until we find the problem.

Sub'd for education. I believe I have a solenoid issue in my cart as well.
