Custom Painting
Who sells custom painted bodies other than Deckers? $1K for a Precedent body is insane.

Re: Custom Painting
Have you tried to get a quote from your local body shop for your existing cart body?
I've gotten a quote from my shop and it was @ $250.00... nothing fancy... just prep & paint... $500.00 + for paint and Air brushing... just a thought! |

Re: Custom Painting
DON"T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY - BUT............
$1,000.00 for a painted body is NOT too high. Go buy a $40,000.00 paint booth, buy materials, learn the trade, pay the electric bill, the gas bill and purchase the rest of the equipment. I'm sorry, but I just get upset when I hear comments like this when a retail customer has no idea of what it takes to paint a vehicle correctly. Macco paints cars for $250.00 - Custom builders pay $20,000.00 for paint. Who's right? Who's wrong? Custom paint from MY shop starts at $1,200.00 on YOUR BODY. Most paintjobs average about $1,800.00. The same paint on a bike? Around $6,000.00. Deckers does decent work, plus their price INCLUDES a body. Ever heard this - "You get what you pay for"? Let's research more than price - at least before you start condeming a company or companies because their price is higher than what you want to pay |

Re: Custom Painting
All the bends and dips make a cart harder to paint than a car in my opinion.

Re: Custom Painting
Actually, I was hoping to let someone that supports this forum paint the body. It is still in the shipping box and could have been readily shipped to whoever wanted to make some money.
"I'm sorry, but I just get upset when I hear comments like this when a retail customer has no idea of what it takes to paint a vehicle correctly". A TYPICAL REPLY FROM SOMEONE IN THE BUSINESS PROMOTING THEMSELVES ON A FORUM Who have I "condemmed" Mike? I am glad to turn out all these multi thousand dollar paint jobs. You must stay quite busy. We have been in the wholsale auto business for well over 30 years. Don't you try to tell me about having an idea about anything. Get upset if you want to.... I don't give a rats butt who gets upset with me. I kiss up to nobody and will not agree with someone just because he has a lot of posts, or owns a business. Just so you know Mike, this was using my brand new body delivered to them, they don't stock Precedent bodies, one solid color, pearl yellow. Sure I can get a body shop here to do it. I figured they have a more experience in cart bodies and it would make a cool weekend drive. We bought 12 carts, 999 each. 1 Yeah, 1000 bucks is a deal on a quart of paint and clear huh? Sorry I posted the question. I am done with the attitudes......... This is the exact thing I was told and warned about last month. Have a good one. |

Re: Custom Painting
Hey... hey... hey... Chill you guys!!!
I have no experience with Deckers... I'm sure they do a great job, IMO.. Spending a grand for paint on my cart body, It better be perfect! Sad part about it... IF I were do do that... it'd get f**ked up by running through the woods, mud, etc... AR... don't get so "riled"... Myrtle Beach has to have someone that'll do what you'd like done with yours! my 2 cents |

Re: Custom Painting
If all you want is a single color body, then why don't you buy a new factory painted body in the color of your choice? I believer that Yellow is an option?
Anyway, When someone says "custom" paint, I never think of a one color paint job. Maybe you could have given a better description? BTW - I don't answer questions on this forum to promote my business. I answer questions to assist those that are in need, even if they don't like what my "opinion" may be... Good luck with the build(s)... |
