2000 36v Club Car DS: Digital Battery Power Meter
2000 36v Club Car DS V-Glide.
I want to add a power meter to gauge my remaining run time. I’m interested in a dual digital DC 0-100v and 0-100amp with 100amp Shunt I've seen. Is this more than adequate or is it recommended to use something different? I’ve seen the simple green to red led indicators and didn’t care for them. Thanks in advance for your help. |

A lot of people (me included) use these: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-led-meters.html
If I am understanding correctly you just want to monitor the state of charge of your battery pack via voltage. A simple switch can be used to display voltage from different sources. EG: main battery pack and/or 12v accessory battery. These are wired directly to the battery pack and not part of the high amp delivery system to the motor. Very small current. They can be wired to the ignition switch, or a separate switch or direct wired (on all the time). Minuscule current draw. |

Well if your into overkill and complexity that will most definitely fill the cart. But all you really need is a voltage meter such as the one mentioned as it takes very little to learn to read voltage like a gas gauge.

Re: 2000 36v Club Car DS: Digital Battery Power Meter
Thanks for your input:
I like the simple digital volt meter and I know the dual meter is overkill; but would having the amps displayed be useful as a real-time system diagnostic tool for battery and motor health or is it useless? What is the correct voltage reading (36v system) to determine when you must recharge or does that vary with battery age? Thanks in advance for your help… |

see attached chart
real time voltage reading is a good indicator of available amperage supply. |

Re: 2000 36v Club Car DS: Digital Battery Power Meter
The cool thing about the amp meter is the increased resolution in your peak usage.
The voltmeter may go from 38.2v to 36v, while the amp meter goes from 0 to 200 amps. Also keep in mind you most likely will need an isolated power supply to power the meter. |
