Default Club car ds occasionally won't go forward

2003 club car ds 48v sometimes will not go forward. When it decides it doesn't want to go there is no solenoid click. Now if I drive it in reverse for about 20 feet and then try forward it will work but sometimes not. So, after several reverse attempts it will then go in forward and everything runs great. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

a rocker switch is a black rectangular thing that clicks when you push the left corner of it or the right, and when you center it its neutral. a lever will be down by your legs that you need to turn with your hand
