Default Did I smoke my FNR switch

It's about a 3 mile ride up and down hills back to my deer stand. I've made this trip a dozen times since I got my cart. Sometimes my controller will whine on the way back to the truck but not on the way in. Went to check cameras and as I pulled up I stopped and switched to reverse to turn around. Heard the clicks but didn't move. Put it back in forward and heard the clicks, but did not move.

Lifted up seat and saw a little bit of smoke coming from the FNR switch. The red post was so hot it melted some of the plastic around it and seemed to have some play. As things cooled down the play went away but still no go.

I have a 500 amp controller and Beast motor. Thought my FNR switch had been replaced with a HD switch but now I'm doubting it.

Melted black plastic under red connection.

Time to drop $200 on a real HD switch????

Yep, its smoked

The crappy part is the F/R switches made now a days suck, and club car stopped making some of the older ones so your stuck with aftermarket ones. Your cart is only as strong as the weakest link.

Get yourself the reversing contactors suggested here and your problem will be solved.

I'm ready to order one but the website says $199. How do I get it for $159?

FYI, looks like you have some corrosion on the wire itself you will want to handle while doing the FNR switch.. The corrosion will make it's way up the copper inside the insulation.

And just to update the tread, per our messaging I said:

If you want to use a reversing contactor you should go with the SW202 superduty kit for $249 because of the higher amp draw going up hills etc. But I would not be afraid to recommend the $159 HD F&R switch. I think those are your choices. Thanks for asking
