Default Precedent Speed Sensor Magnet

Hi all,
I have a 2013 Precedent, I believe it is an excel car, Vin # Prefix is PH1329.

The car has been been updated to Speed Setting 4 by the Club Car dealer, has a 4" lift kit and 21 inch tires. Last week it ran fine, with a steady 21 MPH on the GPS, I saw 23 MPH going down a small hill, today it is pretty sickly.

The car seems to be running in limp mode, I have searched the forum and read the threads, and run the test, which indicates that the Speed Sensor has gone bad.

My plan is to go pick up a new speed sensor tomorrow, and hope that cures the problem.

My question is would I gain any speed with the "high speed" magnets I see advertised all over eBay?

Thank you in advance.
George

No. High speed magnets don't work in Excel cars such as yours. Make sure you order a factory style speed sensor and not one of the cheap ones.

TahoeDawgZ71.
Thanks for the quick response. I will probably go to the local dealer and see if he can get me one rather than ordering and waiting. I will take the sensor with me hoping they can test it.

I did check eBay and see them priced from $18.00 to $100.00. What do you think is reasonable and is there a brand I should look for, or a brand to stay away from.

And I should have added, when testing the car, the reverse beeper never made a sound and it used to beep if I just rolled it a couple of feet.

Thanks again,
George

fishbone,
I am hoping to get one locally, I am at the beach, on vacation, and want to use the cart.
If local doesn't work, TahoeDawgZ71, is a good plan.

Thank you,
George

It's an excellent plan, and it's an OEM sensor. Should be 2 day shipping to Charlotte. Don't buy the cheap ones. They will fail shortly after installation in most cases, if they even work at all.

TahoeDawgZ71,

Thank you for the confirmation on my plan. I went to the local golf car store today and picked up the new sensor.

My car is back on the road running fine, but only clocked 19 MPH on the GPS, I was getting 21 - 23 before the old speed sensor bit the dust. Was that just a sign that the sensor was dying?

Ok here is a new question, what kind of mods would i need to get it up to 25 - 27 mph. I am afraid the answer will be, Motor, Controller, and new heavier Cables, but I thought I could ask.

Thank you,
George

I have no idea why your speed changed. A speed sensor either works or it doesn't work. There is no in-between. As for the speeds you're trying to achieve. It sounds like you already know the answer to that question. Getting a cart up to 20mph isn't too difficult, but getting one to 25 or 30 is a much more expensive task.

TahoeDawgZ71,
Well you have confirmed what I thought. Can you give a ball park estimate of what the next 5-7 MPH would cost, or are there too mane variables.

Thank you,
George
