Plans for the old DS, Your ideas welcome

A little over a year ago I picked up a wrecked 2000.5 CC DS. The left front wheel was pushed back about 3 inches. I replaced the upper control arm and front spring. Luckily the frame wasn't bent. While I was in there I replaced the front spindles and all the bushings. The plan is to leave it stock height, add 12 inch wheels, Plum Quick motor or 36 volt motor (if I can find a series 36 volt at a reasonable price), Jakes sport windshield, lights with brake and turn signals and stereo system. I like the roadster look. One thing I've never liked about the front of a DS is the way the body panel curves down and attaches to the frame at the front bumper. I decided to try blacking it out with semigloss. Instead of using a DS light kit, I'm going to use LED square off road lights mounted in front of it above the bumper.

The turn signals/daytime running lights are white/amber LEDs that are about 4 inches wide and 1 inch high mounted where the stock headlight kit would be mounted.

The taillights are LED too.

What do you think? I would love to see pics of your DS carts, especially lowered roadsters, and hear your ideas.

When I put 12" wheels on my stock DS I had to put a wheelbase extender kit on the front to keep the wheels from rubbing. I had to cut the rear body and put on flares to avoid rubbing in the rear. I think if I had paid attention to backspacing I might have been able to keep the rear wheels in far enough to not rub on the body, although I don't know what backspacing is available in golf cart wheels.

People tell me they like my cart at the stock height because they don't have to climb up into it, they can just step onto it. I don't see how I could lower it any and still fit the 12" wheels.

I like the roadster look and the sport windshield, but we use the cart for parades and parties, and it is nice to be able to sit in the shade under a roof out of the Florida sun. I'd like to put an extended roof onto mine, but for now I have the stock roof because the mascot that often rides in the back seat couldn't fit his giant head under an extended roof.

i bought a beat up 97 ds 48v and i am in the process of re doing in
6" a arm lift powder coated
PQ motor- waiting still
line x black with green fender flares
black wheels

Attached are photos of a club car pathway that I bought in horrible shape. I wound up reparing the body, repainting with automotive paint, replaced the controller with an alltrax 500A and a D&D 502.2. Also a jakes long travel lift kit and 23" tires were used.

The work is well worth it.
