Looking to add an on board charger
I'm lookin to add an on board charger to my '01 48V CC DS. Anyone have any advice or recommendations on a quality charger and mounting possibilities? Thanks in advance.

Re: Looking to add an on board charger
IMO an onboard charger isn't a good idea. Takes up space and it gets subjected to much more vibration and shock than it's designed for.

Re: Looking to add an on board charger
I like the Lester "Summit" high frequency chargers as an on-board design. 2 Year warranty, quiet, light, and they work very well. Can be ordered with the DC plug of your choice, or set up to wire to the battery pack to be used as an on-board design. These have been great chargers for me so far.

Re: Looking to add an on board charger
How do these chargers compare to the DPI accusense? Between home, deer camp and the lake I either need to get another DPI or an onboard.

Re: Looking to add an on board charger
The summit charger is 10x11x4, where do you mount this in the CC?
And is it playing nice with the charger safety interlock? Any pictures of the installs, Tahoe? |

Re: Looking to add an on board charger
Typically they mount underneath the seat bottom cushion or cargo bed on the back of the cart. I've installed a few but I've never taken pictures. The safety interlock doesn't work once you bypass the OBC no matter which charger you use. The only way you're gonna keep the interlock is to install the AC interrupt board into the existing PowerDrive charger, which I can help with also. It's not a hard mod. The PowerDrive charger can mount in the bottom of the bag well.

Re: Looking to add an on board charger
I've had nothing but great luck with both of them. It's hard to pick a favorite. In an on-board application I vote for the Lester because of it's size and lighter weight.
