That's right - and know when it breaks the best thing to do is convert to series or IQ drive

Alltrax still have the PD2 XCT controller on their web site with the 23 pin connector, schematics and all.

It is hard to comprehend how a product got this far without proper engineering and testing

What is the difference between the regen 2 and an iq cart? In know the regen 2 uses the second solenoid. It looks like with an older Alltax DCX in a regen 2 the second solenoid is bypassed. The motor in my cart says it's for both regen and iq.

Mine is exclusively a GOLF cart and it's an "IQ in disguise" pending controller failure. That is...if I don't end up finding a great deal on a Black 2008.5+ Precedent.

I kinda wondered that myself....

Only the Regen-1 used 2 solenoids, the Power Drive Plus or Regen-2 was a single solenoid design and the pre-cursor of the IQ.

They have different controller connectors: 23-pin on PD+ and 16-pin on IQ.

The OBC functionality (lock-out) is also different.

It's gone now, but I used to help a friend with his Regen 2....no, I seem to recall it still had two solenoids. The dynamic braking one was on the lower frame, with the wire coil directly connected to it and hanging down (vs upright using cables on Regen 1). Admittedly just going by memory, though.

To answer both questions (I had to go look it up), that is a Power Drive Plus (aka: Regen-2).

Carts with S/N less than AA0106-987637 had the 2nd solenoid for Dynamic Brake, Regen-2 carts after that S/N had the heat from Dynamic Brake absorbed /Dissipated by the controller.

If the S/N is greater than AA0112-001470, it also had an MCOR, prior S/N had a Multi-Step potentiometer.

The PD+ is a possible solution but not without reservation.
The control is out of production and if you have a problem under warranty, it is a potted unit with no repairs possible and no replacement available when the few on the shelf units are gone.
