Default Powerdrive Plus Regen 2 controller

Hi I have a 2001 Club car with the 48 v Powerdrive Plus 2 system. The controller is bad. This system doesnt seem to be very common. What is the best solution for replacing or repairing this controller. Ive been told I should update this cart to a iq system but I cant find any info about that. What would be nessasary and is it worth it? The budget is tight.
Thanks

I upgraded my cart to a IQ cart and wow what a difference! you wont regret it! but you will have $900 into give or take if you do it right and that price doesn't include a motor upgrade.
Tahoedog71 hooked me up with HD solenoid, new alltrax controller, HD battery cables, and IQ wire harness. and a few other misc parts since mine was an upgrade on a 1998 cart and I had to upgrade some throttle parts.
If you just want to replace your current controller you can send it to Golframa and they will send you one that is fixed for somewhere around $250 plus shipping and all that stuff. But I heard they only replace the component that is bad and don't rebuild the whole thing. When mine went I was faced with a tight budget but since I had to replace my controller I decided to go with the upgrade and I am very happy!

I agree with CJ; if you can, upgrade to IQ. The regen I and II systems were stepping stones to the superior IQ system.

Apparently, Alltrax makes a version of their XCT Controller that is compatible with Regen 2, requiring relatively few changes to that particular cart. I don't know the details of that Regen 2 upgrade controller, but ScottyB at cartsunlimited does. Might be worth checking.

Update 09-2016
I spoke with Alltrax about this. It has been many months since my failed attempt to use the XCT with this drive system. Alltrax said they too had many problems and dropped support for the Regen 2 system.

I believe FSIP will "rebuild" your OEM control. Give them a call

That's a shame. Would have been a big after-market I suspect - but they know their stuff the best. Looks like both Regen 1 and 2 were a real bag o' worms.

You hit the nail on the head. I believe the Regen 1 system is supported but the booger Regen 2 is a bust.
No big loss, there can't be that many of them left. We only see 2-3 a year on the board here.

Nooooo - that's mine (Black "T" shaped) with CVP pot. I KNOW nobody would do that one - too many built-in (AKA troublesome) features, and too few carts made. The Regen 2 has run/tow and multi-step pot. That one was at least a second cousin to IQ. Too bad - there were lots of those around, and probably are still working with relatively few issues. Plus the standard controller is still more-or-less available. No doubt Alltrax knew that and (I guess) tried to use their tech skills to capture a sure-thing replacement market.

Hmm - both more trouble than they are worth. Like fixing a flip phone

Bought mine last year, new batteries and Use it everyday around our property. Guess being satisfied with 14MPH helps,...
